Skills and Technologies

Skills

I consider myself an easy going individual who will work my socks off when needed. These are just a few of my best traits...

  • Strong Numerical Skills - with a mathematics degree, numbers definitely make a lot of sense to me
  • High Attention to Detail - I like things to look nice and can usually pinpoint those that are a little bit off
  • Passion and eagerness to learn new skills - I feel best when I truly understand what I'm doing and I'll always take the time to learn how things work
  • Highly adaptable - I have rarely started a role with the exact skills required but I can turn the skills I have to it and figure it out.
  • Great at problem solving - Having spent a fair few years in support roles, I am adept at recreating an issue and getting to the bottom of what's causing it
  • Rarely ill and never late - Impeccable time keeping means a lot to me, and I will always try to make it to work unless truly unable to do so

Programs/Software

A list of programming languages and software that I've had some good experience with. Always willing to learn more.

  • HTML - I can make web pages, like this one you're looking at now
  • CSS - I understand the basics will a little bit of animation knowledge. Bootstrap is the framework I'm most familiar with
  • JavaScript - Comfortable with vanilla and some previous experience with JQuery, mostly used in conjuction with React, Angular or Node
  • PHP - Have developed and built WordPress plugins and Drupal modules in my time
  • NodeJS - Learnt a couple of years ago, it is my preferred choice for backend development when used in conjunction with Express
  • MongoDB - Quite new to NoSQL but I love the flexibility it offers
  • React - The foundation for this site. I only have one professional application under my belt but I am a big fan of the technology and look forward to using it more
  • Angular - The newest framework I've picked up, and now my favourite way to develop in the front end. Knowledge of Typescript also comes hand in hand.
  • Swift - I have published a game on the Apple App Store (no longer available), have built an Assisted Communication app for my autistic nephew and completed a Swift 5 course on udemy not so long ago
  • Talend - Completed a certification but never had the chance to use it. It was an orchestration tool for ETL processes
  • Excel - Have used Excel on and off since I could use a computer. Comfortable with a few in-built functions and have a bit of VBA experience
  • SQL - Many years of experience working with mySQL, SQL Anywhere and SQL Server, writing stored procedures, advanced queries and designing schema
